Importing Your Ledger Wallet/Account into Your Keystone Hardware Wallet

This guide explains how to import your existing Ledger wallet/account into your Keystone hardware wallet. Doing so will allow you to swiftly sign transactions using Keystone QR codes with MetaMask while still managing your digital assets. Let’s take a look at how to do this in more detail:

I. Preparation

1. Firmware version M-5.0 (Multi-Coin) running on Keystone Essential or Pro.

(Please read How to upgrade firmware for more information.)

2. Recovery Phrase for your Ledger wallet.

II. Import your Ledger wallet/account into Keystone

1. Turn on the Keystone device. Tap the "Menu" icon > [Setting] > [Create/Import Wallet] > Ether your password and then tap [Confirm].

2. Select [Import Wallet] > [Import a Wallet with Single Backup], then select [24] for the recovery phrase length and tap [Next].

3. Enter your recovery phrase in order > then tap [Import Wallet] to finish > add any amount of cryptocurrencies to your list based on your needs and tap [√]. Your Ledger Account has now been successfully imported.

4. You can now sync your Keystone device with the Keystone Mobile App to easily view all of your coins and execute transactions. Please check the page link below for related tutorial:

Important Note:

If the bitcoin amount shown on the Keystone companion app isn’t the same as your Ledger wallet, this is most likely due to the Keystone companion app currently only supports Nested SegWit addresses (addresses that start with "3"), please check here (FAQ 9) for solutions and more information.

III. Binding your Keystone to MetaMask

Firmware versions M-5.0 (Multi-Coin) or newer will allow you to use the MetaMask Extension (V10.8.0 or newer) as a watch-only wallet with your Keystone Essential or Pro.

1. If you are already using MetaMask with your ledger hardware wallet and wish to use the exact same wallet with a keystone hardware wallet instead, please remove the Ledger accounts from MetaMask first or reinstall the MetaMask extension. (This is a necessary and important step. For more information, please see the second section of this guide: Potential Trouble with Importing Accounts.)

2. If you are new to MetaMask, download the MetaMask browser extension from MetaMask's official website, then set it up to enter its main interface.

3.On your Keystone: navigate the menu in this order: [Menu] > [Watch-only Wallet] > [MetaMask / DeFi / Web3] > [Confirm] > [Display QR Code]. The last step will display a QR Code for syncing purposes.

Tips: If you want to switch the wallet path to Ledger Live / Legacy formats to identify your digital assets, please check here for tutorial and more information.

4.On the main MetaMask interface, click on the round "Menu" icon on the top right corner > then select [Connect Hardware Wallet].

5. Select [QR-based] and then click [Continue].

6. MetaMask utilizes your computer's camera to scan the QR code displayed on the Keystone hardware wallet.

7. Select the Account (e.g. Account 1) that you want to bind and click [Unlock].

8. MetaMask should now be successfully bound to your Keystone. You can now continue to manage your assets in this wallet by interacting with MetaMask as a watch-only wallet while using your Keystone for signing.
